Boiler fault and error code repair across London

When your boiler flashes an error code, locks out, or keeps shutting down after a reset, our Gas Safe registered engineers read the fault, find the real cause, and put it right, often within 30 to 60 minutes across London and the M25.

Modern condensing boilers communicate faults through alphanumeric error codes, short identifiers that tell a Gas Safe engineer exactly which sensor, valve, or subsystem has failed. Used properly, these codes turn what would have been an hour of guesswork into a 5-minute diagnosis. Used poorly (i.e. ignored, or reset repeatedly without investigation), they accelerate boiler failure and waste hundreds of pounds in unnecessary repairs.

Our heating engineers carry diagnostic flue-gas analysers, manometers, multimeters and manufacturer service interfaces, meaning we don't just read the error code. We verify the underlying fault, identify the root cause, and quote the correct repair the first time.

Our Process

How we deliver

No surprises, no upselling. The exact path every job follows.

  1. 1
Capture error code on the phone
We bring the right parts based on the code before we even arrive.
  2. 2
    On-site verification
Engineer reads stored fault history (boilers retain past 5,10 codes), not just the current code.
  3. 3
    Component-level diagnosis
Multimeter, manometer, FGA testing to confirm the underlying fault.
  4. 4
    Quote presented in writing
Customer chooses: repair, replace, or continue on our published labour rate.
  5. 5
    Repair carried out, code cleared
Manufacturer service interface used to clear fault history and recommission.
  6. 6
    Flue gas analysis post-repair
FGA reading confirms safe combustion before we leave.
  7. 7
    12-month workmanship guarantee
If the same code returns within 12 months due to our repair, we come back free.
Frequently Asked

Your questions answered

Why does my boiler keep showing the same error code?
The underlying fault hasn't been properly diagnosed and repaired. Resetting clears the code but not the fault, the boiler detects the same problem on next firing and shows the code again. Don't keep resetting. Book a proper diagnostic.
How much does a boiler diagnostic cost?
A diagnostic + reset visit including FGA is charged as labour at our standard rate, from £75 / 30 min (daytime) up to £147 / 30 min (nighttime) (see /pricing), with a 1-hour minimum. There is no callout fee for emergency work, so you pay only for the labour at the rate for the time of day, plus any materials. If the repair requires parts, we quote separately before any further work, with materials charged at trade cost + 30%, itemised.
Can I just reset the boiler and ignore the code?
Short term, yes, for one or two reset cycles. Long term, no. Persistent error codes indicate an underlying fault that will worsen if ignored, and modern boilers will eventually go to permanent lockout that can't be cleared without manufacturer-level intervention.
Do you carry parts for all brands?
We stock the most common consumables (sensors, diaphragms, expansion vessels, PRVs, fans, pumps) for Worcester, Vaillant, Ideal, Viessmann, Baxi, Glow-worm and Potterton in every van. For unusual parts we have same-day couriers from manufacturer warehouses across London.
My boiler is older than 12 years, is it worth diagnosing?
Honest answer: it depends on the code. Cheap repairs (PRV, expansion vessel) are worth doing on older units. Expensive repairs (heat exchanger, gas valve, PCB) on a 12+ year old boiler usually push you into replacement territory. We'll tell you honestly which side the diagnosis falls.
