247 Rapid Response branded van loaded for an out-of-area project callout

Beyond the M25

Out-of-area project work.

We’re a London team and our 30 to 90 minute response window stops at the M25-adjacent ring. For certain work types though, the journey is worth it for both sides: a single boiler swap, a multi-day system replacement, a specialist drain reline, a leak-detection survey on a country house. Day rate plus mileage, free phone scope-out first, written quote before anyone gets in the van.

How out-of-area pricing works

Three rules. No surprises.

Free phone scope-out

A 10 to 15 minute call with an engineer to confirm the job is the right shape for us before we put a van on the motorway. If it isn’t, we’ll say so and point you somewhere better.

Day rate + mileage

£550 per engineer per day for planned out-of-area work, fixed across all zones. Plus HMRC AMAP mileage at £0.45 per mile each way beyond the nearest M25 junction. Materials at trade cost + 30%, itemised.

Written quote first

Day count, mileage breakdown, materials and a fixed total in writing before any chargeable work. No deposit. No engineer in the van until you’ve signed off.

A London team, with selective reach.

Out-of-area projects we will travel for, priced honestly, quoted in writing.

Our standard 30 to 90 minute response window is London and the M25-adjacent ring. For specific project work though, the journey is worth it for both sides. A multi-day system replacement, a specialist drain reline, a leak-detection survey on a country house: that we will do, anywhere in England and Wales. Reactive emergencies and single-hour repairs outside our footprint, we will not. Request a written quote

We are a directly-employed London plumbing, heating, and drainage team. The economics of a 24/7 dispatch business depend on response time, and response time depends on staying inside a defined geographic footprint. That footprint is Greater London plus the 23 M25-adjacent councils across Hertfordshire, Surrey, Essex, Kent, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire. Inside it we target arrival in 30 to 90 minutes, subject to engineer availability and traffic. Outside it, we cannot, and we will not pretend otherwise.

There is, however, a narrow category of project work where the time-on-site is long enough that the journey is justified for both the customer and the engineer. A two-day combi swap with a system upgrade. A four-day central-heating strip-out. A leak-detection survey with a written report on a six-bedroom property in the Cotswolds. A CIPP no-dig drain reline that a local jetting firm has already walked away from. A pre-purchase plumbing and drainage survey before exchange on a £3 million home in Surrey. For this kind of work, we travel. We do it well, we price it transparently, and we put the whole quote in writing before anyone gets in the van.

How it works

Three steps, no surprises

1. Free phone scope-out

A 10 to 15 minute call with one of our engineers. We confirm the job is the right shape for us before any van leaves London. If it is not, we say so and point you somewhere better.

2. Day rate plus mileage

£550 per engineer per day, fixed regardless of zone, with no evening or weekend premium on planned out-of-area work. Mileage at the HMRC AMAP rate of £0.45 per mile each way beyond the nearest M25 junction.

3. Written quote first

Day count, mileage, materials, and a fixed total in writing. Signed off before any chargeable work begins. No on-site surprises, no day-two scope creep, no "while we are here" upsells.

Seven services

What we will travel for

Each link below opens a dedicated page with the technique, the typical project profile, and the way pricing works for that specific service.

Boiler installation

Worcester Greenstar, Vaillant ecoTEC, Ideal Logic, Viessmann Vitodens, and Baxi DuoTec. Single-day swaps and multi-day system upgrades, with BS 7593 inhibitor dosing and a Benchmark commissioning record on every install.

Heating system replacement

Full strip-out and re-pipe, new boiler, 8 to 12 radiators, weather-compensation sensors, and OpenTherm load-compensating controls. Two to five days on site, scheduled in a single block.

Drain relining (CIPP)

UV-cured or steam-cured cured-in-place liners, up to 100m in a single shot, to BS EN 13566 with WRc-approved resin systems. No-dig repair where excavation is impractical or uneconomic.

Leak detection survey

FLIR E76 and E96 thermal imaging, Sewerin tracer-gas (5% hydrogen, 95% nitrogen), and Protimeter Surveymaster moisture mapping. Insurance-grade written report on the same visit.

Pre-purchase plumbing survey

RICS-format report covering whole-property plumbing, heating, and drainage, with a static pressure test and a written defects schedule. Five working day turnaround, anywhere in England and Wales by arrangement.

Portfolio CP12 and LGSR

Gas Safe registration 972173. For account clients whose portfolios stretch beyond the M25, we absorb the cross-region properties into the same monthly compliance cycle as the London stock, on a single invoice.

Insurance restoration

Escape-of-water reinstatement, post-leak drying, replumb, and make-good. Loss-adjuster coordination, FRAS protocols for fire restoration, and direct billing to the insurer where the policy supports it.

Honesty block

What we will not travel for

We would rather be straight about this than waste your time or ours. Outside London and the M25-adjacent ring, we do not take on routine reactive callouts, single-hour repairs, or out-of-hours emergencies. The travel time alone kills the economics for both sides, and a local engineer will be with you faster.

  • Reactive emergencies outside our footprint (burst pipes, blocked toilets, no-heat, leaking taps).
  • Single-hour repairs where the mileage swamps the labour and the invoice feels disproportionate.
  • Out-of-hours dispatches outside London and M25-adjacent. We cannot target a 60-minute arrival in Norwich at 2am from a north-west London depot, and anyone who claims they can is lying or sub-contracting.

For local reactive work, the Gas Safe Register find-an-engineer tool and the CIPHE find-a-plumber directory are the right places to start. Both are free, both list properly-registered engineers, and both will find you someone closer than us.
