A boiler installation outside London is the kind of project we will travel for. A like-for-like combi swap is a single day on site; a system boiler with a new unvented cylinder, a full re-balance, and smart-control commissioning typically runs to two days for a pair of engineers. The time-on-site is long enough that the journey from our north-west London depot is reasonable for both sides, and the work itself is too consequential to leave to whoever the local British Gas franchisee dispatches that week.

We install Worcester Greenstar, Vaillant ecoTEC, Ideal Logic Max, Viessmann Vitodens 100-W and 200-W, and Baxi DuoTec. Every installation is dosed with BS 7593 inhibitor (Sentinel X100 or Fernox F1), commissioned with a flue-gas analysis logged on the Benchmark commissioning record, registered with the manufacturer for the full warranty (10 years on Worcester, 12 years on Vaillant and Viessmann with matched system filter), notified to Building Control under our Gas Safe competent-person scheme for Part L, and signed off with a full handover pack.

Where this applies

Out-of-area boiler installations we take on

  • Like-for-like combi boiler swaps where the customer has chosen the brand and the existing flue route is reusable, single day on site.
  • Conversions from system or open-vent to high-output combi, with pipework upgrades and a cylinder removal.
  • System boiler installs paired with a new Megaflo, Heatrae Sadia, or Range Tribune unvented cylinder, with G3 sign-off.
  • Listed-building installs where the flue route, condensate run, or boiler location needs sympathetic specification.
  • Country properties on LPG or oil where the brand choice is narrower and the local Gas Safe roster is thin.
  • Holiday-let owners commissioning a boiler upgrade between bookings, with a fixed delivery window.
  • Heritage homes where the existing system pre-dates Part L and a sealed-system upgrade is required.
  • Insurance-backed boiler replacements where the loss adjuster has named us on the schedule of works.
Our Process

How an out-of-area install runs

Eight clearly-numbered stages, every one of them in writing before the second one starts.

  1. 1
    Free phone scope-out
A 10 to 15 minute call to confirm the property type, the existing boiler model, the flue route, the gas-meter location, and the chosen replacement brand. We confirm it is the right job for us before any quote is drafted.
  2. 2
    Written quote with mileage breakdown
Day rate, mileage from the nearest M25 junction at the HMRC AMAP £0.45 per mile, materials at trade cost plus 30%, and a fixed total. Signed off by you in writing before the diary block is reserved.
  3. 3
    Materials staged in London
Boiler, flue kit, filter, inhibitor, and consumables collected from our trade supplier, loaded the night before. No on-site dependency on a local merchant's stock.
  4. 4
    Arrival on the agreed date
Van loaded, dust sheets and pipe-cutting station set up inside the boiler cupboard. System isolated at gas, water, and electric. Existing boiler drained and removed.
  5. 5
    System flush and filter fit
Full chemical clean with Sentinel X400, fresh water rinse, and an Adey MagnaClean Pro2 or Fernox TF1 Sigma fitted on the return line. Required for the manufacturer warranty.
  6. 6
    New boiler fitted and gas-tested
Boiler hung, gas, flow, return, condensate, and flue connected. Tightness test on the gas line, working-pressure test on the heating side, condensate trap primed.
  7. 7
    Commissioning and inhibitor dose
First-fire sequence, flue-gas analysis, ratio checks, balancing across the radiator network, and a BS 7593 inhibitor dose introduced via the filter port.
  8. 8
Handover, registration, and Building Control notice
Benchmark book completed, Gas Safety record issued, manufacturer warranty registered, smart-control walkthrough, and a Part L notification submitted under our competent-person scheme.
Frequently Asked

Your questions answered

Do you really travel that far for a boiler install?
Yes, for planned installations. A combi swap is roughly a day on site, a system upgrade closer to two, and that is long enough for the mileage to be a sensible proportion of the job. We do not travel for reactive breakdowns or no-heat callouts outside London plus M25-adjacent; use the Gas Safe Register.
How is the mileage calculated?
HMRC AMAP rate of £0.45 per mile (first 10,000 miles), each way, measured from the nearest M25 junction to your postcode. Itemised on the quote and the final invoice, with no rounding up.
What if I need a same-day emergency on a boiler that has failed?
If you are outside London plus M25-adjacent, we cannot. A local engineer will be with you faster and at less expense. The Gas Safe Register and the CIPHE find-a-plumber directory are the right starting points.
Will the price change once you arrive?
No. The written quote is the price, held for 30 days. The only exception is a defect the original survey could not have seen (a perished gas-meter governor, a corroded primary heat exchanger). In that case we stop, document, and quote separately, and you decide whether to proceed.
Which brands and warranties do you fit?
Worcester Bosch (10 years with system filter), Vaillant (10 to 12 years on ecoTEC), Ideal (up to 12 years on Logic Max), Viessmann (12 years on Vitodens with matched filter), and Baxi (up to 10 years on DuoTec). Warranties registered on the day of commissioning, paperwork in the handover pack.
