Blocked toilet repair and unblocking across London

If your toilet won't flush away, the water rises to the brim, or it gurgles and backs up into the bath, our directly-employed, fully insured London plumbers clear the blockage and check the drain downstream, typically reaching you across London and the M25 within 30 to 60 minutes.

A blocked toilet is the #1 plumbing call we take. Most are simple, a plunger or auger restores flow within 20 minutes. Some aren't, repeated blockages, slow refill, gurgling, or backup into other fixtures usually indicate a structural drainage defect downstream that won't fix itself by clearing the visible blockage.

Our plumbers carry plungers, augers (toilet snakes), high-pressure jetters and CCTV cameras, meaning we can clear, diagnose and verify the entire downstream run on a single visit. Where we find a structural defect (root infiltration, dropped joint, partial collapse) we'll quote separately for the permanent repair before any further work.

Frequently Asked

Your questions answered

How much to unblock a toilet in London?
Labour is billed per 30 minutes (1-hour minimum, inc VAT), from £75 / 30 min (daytime) up to £147 / 30 min (nighttime) (see /pricing). There is no callout fee for emergency work, so you pay only for the labour at the rate for the time of day, plus any materials. A CCTV drain inspection is from £418.79 inc VAT. We confirm the rate on the phone before dispatching.
Why does my toilet keep blocking?
Repeated blockages usually mean a structural defect downstream, a partial collapse, dropped joint, root infiltration, or undersized soil pipe. The visible blockage is a symptom, not the cause. We'd recommend a CCTV drain inspection to identify the real issue (from £418.79 inc VAT).
Should I pour drain unblocker down the toilet?
Generally no. Caustic and acidic drain unblockers can damage soil pipework, glazed pan, and the wax seal. They're also less effective than a proper auger. Save the £15 you'd spend on chemicals and book a 30-minute plumber visit.
Can a flushed wet wipe really cause a blockage?
Yes, wet wipes (even those labelled 'flushable') don't break down like toilet paper and routinely cause blockages in soil pipes. The Water UK 'Fine to Flush' standard is more rigorous than 'flushable' but still doesn't apply to all wipes. Best practice: bin them, never flush them.
My toilet is leaking from the base, what's wrong?
Either the wax seal between pan and soil pipe has failed, or the cistern-to-pan bolts have loosened. Both are simple repairs, charged on our labour rate from £75 / 30 min (daytime) up to £147 / 30 min (nighttime) (see /pricing). Worth fixing fast, leaks under the toilet rot floorboards quickly.
