Drainage in Windsor and Maidenhead.

The chalk geology beneath SL4, SL5 and SL6 gives Windsor and Maidenhead excellent natural permeability in the rural fringe, but it does nothing to protect the drainage fabric of the older built-up areas. Windsor's Georgian and Victorian streets, and the collegiate stock around Eton, run on clay-pipe drainage installed in some cases over a century ago: root ingress from the area's mature street trees, joint displacement caused by ground movement and longitudinal cracking are the failure modes we survey for first. In Maidenhead's post-war and 1980s estates the more common finding is grease-build and detergent-fats blockage in 100mm PVCu laterals, compounded by scaled fittings where very hard Affinity Water has been discharged over decades.

Every survey starts with a CCTV camera inspection to establish the exact condition and fall of the run before any jetting is attempted. High-pressure water jetting then clears the obstruction; where the camera reveals structural damage, no-dig CIPP lining is the preferred repair to avoid open cutting in conservation-sensitive streets.
