Lead supply pipework is still in active service across a notable share of Eastbourne's Edwardian villa stock, particularly in BN21 and the approaches to Old Town. At 280 to 320 ppm CaCO3, South East Water's supply is very hard, and the scale-and-corrosion interaction inside aged lead and early copper runs produces pinhole failures that can track behind lime-plastered walls for months before damp becomes visible.

Our leak-detection surveys are booked one to two working days ahead; a technician attends within the 9am to 5pm slot equipped for three complementary methods. Thermal imaging identifies temperature differentials in walls, floors and ceilings without any opening-up. Acoustic correlation listens along the supply line to pinpoint the precise leak location to within a few centimetres. Where pipe geometry makes acoustic survey uncertain – common in Edwardian builds with re-routed supply runs – tracer gas is introduced to the system and detected at the surface, even through solid floors and tiled finishes.
