Drainage in Adur.

The age and material of Adur's drainage stock dictates our survey methodology. On the post-war estates of Lancing and Shoreham-by-Sea, where original 1950s cast-iron soil stacks are still in service across much of BN15 and BN43, we begin every project with a full CCTV push-rod or crawler survey to establish the exact condition of the line before any intervention. Cast iron at this age presents with internal corrosion blistering, displaced spigot joints and – particularly on flood-plain-adjacent properties in BN44 – silt ingress where pipes pass through ground that moves seasonally with the water table.

Where the survey confirms a partial blockage or scale build-up, high-pressure water jetting clears the line and gives the camera a clean second pass to assess the pipe wall properly. Structurally compromised runs are suitable for no-dig CIPP relining in the majority of cases, which avoids the need to break up the post-war concrete floors and paths typical of Sompting and Southwick properties.
