Central heating power flush across London

Cold radiators with chilly bottom edges, brown sludgy water when you bleed them, or a boiler making kettling noises mean your heating is clogged. Our Gas Safe engineers cover London and the M25, typically reaching emergencies in 30 to 60 minutes to power flush the system clean.

Power flushing is the single most effective intervention to extend the life of an existing central heating system. Black iron-oxide sludge accumulates over years inside radiators, pipework and the boiler heat exchanger, restricting flow, reducing radiator output (you'll feel it as cold spots at the bottom), causing boiler 'kettling' noises, and accelerating component wear. A proper power flush removes virtually all of it.

We use professional Magnacleanse or Kamco power-flush rigs, high-flow circulator pumps, magnetic separators capable of capturing tens of grams of iron oxide per pass, and a sequence of cleaning chemicals (Sentinel X400 sludge remover, Sentinel X800 jetflo, fresh inhibitor X100). Every flush is followed by inhibitor dosing and a magnetic system filter installation to keep future sludge build-up under control.

Our Process

How we deliver

No surprises, no upselling. The exact path every job follows.

  1. 1
    Pre-flush system survey
Engineer inspects boiler, radiators, pump, pipework. Photographs sludge symptoms.
  2. 2
    Magnacleanse rig installed
Connected at the boiler, pump, magnetic separator, dosing port.
  3. 3
    Sludge remover dosed
Sentinel X400 introduced. Circulated through the entire system at high flow.
  4. 4
    Per-radiator agitation
Each radiator individually flushed with chemical agitation. Valves and pipework reverse-flushed.
  5. 5
    Final clean and rinse
Fresh water flushes until run-off is clear.
  6. 6
    Inhibitor dosed
Sentinel X100 inhibitor introduced to fresh water, protects against future corrosion.
  7. 7
    Magnetic system filter fitted
Adey MagnaClean or Fernox TF1 fitted on return line, catches residual sludge.
  8. 8
    System recommissioned
Pressure-tested, vented, balanced. Final FGA on boiler.
Frequently Asked

Your questions answered

How much does a power flush cost in London?
Power flush from £586.79 inc VAT (up to 4 radiators), including chemicals, inhibitor and magnetic filter. Larger systems are priced after a free on-site consultation and a written fixed-price quote, with no obligation. See our full pricing.
How long does a power flush take?
Typical residential power flush: 4,6 hours on site. Larger systems or heavily-sludged systems can run to 7,8 hours. We aim to complete in a single visit.
How often should I have a power flush?
Most central heating systems benefit from a power flush every 5,7 years if a magnetic filter is fitted, or every 3,4 years without. New boilers should never be fitted without flushing the existing system first.
Will a power flush damage old radiators or pipework?
A properly conducted power flush is non-damaging to sound radiators and pipework. However, very old or already-corroded systems can sometimes reveal pre-existing weak points (a pinhole that was being held closed by sludge can leak after flushing). We pressure-test before and after, and quote for any weak points before completing the flush.
What's the difference between a power flush and a chemical flush?
A chemical flush is a softer, cheaper option, priced per our published rate card (see full pricing), typically just adding cleaning chemicals to the system and circulating with the existing pump. It's appropriate for lightly fouled systems. A power flush uses a high-flow external pump and dedicated chemicals, the only effective option for significantly sludged systems.
