What's the difference between softening and reverse osmosis for catering water?
Softening removes calcium/magnesium ions (the cause of limescale), ideal for dishwashers, combis. Reverse osmosis removes virtually all dissolved solids, used for premium coffee, ice clarity, taste-critical applications. Many high-end cafes use a blend of softened + RO water.
