Insurance claim handling

Reinstatement and restoration

Full reinstatement of your property to its pre-incident condition: drying, dehumidification, structural repairs, redecoration, flooring, and joinery. Covered by your policy where the underlying claim is approved.

Full reinstatement of your property to its pre-incident condition after an insurance-covered leak or flood. Drying, dehumidification, structural repairs, redecoration, flooring, joinery. Covered by your policy where the underlying claim is approved. We don't subcontract the restoration to a separate firm.

Once the leak is fixed, the property still needs to be put back together. Plasterboard replaced, walls redecorated, floorboards relaid, kitchen-island carcase rebuilt, cornicing reinstated, ceiling re-skimmed, carpet replaced, joinery refitted. Many plumbing firms hand this off to a separate restoration contractor; the homeowner then has to coordinate two firms, two quotes, two timetables, and two sets of correspondence with the insurer. 247 Rapid Response runs the full reinstatement in-house so the handover never happens.

What reinstatement covers

  • Drying and dehumidification. Industrial-grade dehumidifiers (Trotec TTK) and air movers. Daily moisture-content monitoring with Protimeter Surveymaster until plasterwork and timber substrate read 16% or below.
  • Mould remediation where the leak has been active for more than 4 weeks. HEPA-filtered air scrubbers, antimicrobial treatment of affected surfaces, sealed-PPE working where mould growth is visible.
  • Plasterboard and plaster replacement. Cut-back to sound substrate, dot-and-dab or batten-fix new board, two-coat skim, ready for redecoration after 7 days of drying.
  • Redecoration. Mist coat, two coats of emulsion matched to the original (we colour-match on-site). Skirting, architrave, and cornicing refitted and repainted.
  • Flooring. Floorboards relaid, engineered wood replaced like-for-like, vinyl re-laid, carpet replaced from like-for-like stock (or your insurer's preferred supplier).
  • Joinery. Kitchen carcase repair or replacement, built-in furniture rebuilding, fitted-wardrobe restoration. We work with our partner joiner for bespoke kitchen reinstatement.
  • Tiling. Wall and floor tiling re-bedded where original tiles can be salvaged; full re-tile in colour-match where they cannot.

How it integrates with the claim

The reinstatement scope is submitted as one line in our insurer-liaison submission, with itemised costs against each work-stream. The insurer signs off the whole scope before we start. Variation orders submitted same-day if the work uncovers additional damage during reinstatement (e.g. compromised joist below the original waterline).
