Leak detection in Bracknell Forest.

Hard water at 280 to 310 ppm CaCO3, delivered throughout Bracknell Forest by South East Water, creates a characteristic leak signature: calcium deposits form a white crust around any weeping joint, which conceals the active leak from visual inspection but registers clearly on a thermal imaging camera as a localised cold anomaly within the screed or wall cavity. That is typically our first tool on site – thermal imaging identifies the suspect zone without any opening up.

Acoustic correlation follows, with paired sensors placed on accessible pipe fittings across Bracknell, Binfield, Crowthorne and Sandhurst, covering all RG12, RG40, RG42 and GU17 addresses. The correlator calculates the precise leak point from the time-difference of the pressure wave, cutting excavation or lift-and-relay to a single targeted opening rather than a speculative strip. Where the pipe is plastic or the signal return is low – common in the New Town's PVCu supply laterals – we switch to tracer gas injection, which finds sub-surface leaks with millimetre accuracy.
