Chalk sits directly beneath Chesham, Amersham, Chalfont St Giles and Great Missenden – and everything that flows through it arrives at your taps as some of the hardest water in the South-East. Affinity Water measures the Chiltern chalk aquifer at 280 to 320 ppm CaCO3, a figure that shapes almost every pipework and drainage decision across the HP5, HP6, HP7, HP8, HP15 and HP16 postcodes.

247 Rapid Response provides two specialist services in the Chiltern district: CCTV drainage surveys and targeted drain clearance, and precision leak detection using thermal imaging, acoustic correlation and tracer gas. These are project-grade visits, booked one to two working days ahead within a 9 am to 5 pm slot – thorough, methodical work rather than rushed reactive attendance. The Chiltern Hills AONB designation runs across much of the district, meaning that any external drainage alteration on rural and village properties – including those close to Chenies Manor and throughout the wider Great Missenden corridor – must respect planning constraints that simply do not apply in neighbouring towns. Period Chiltern stock is also common: Victorian and Edwardian flint-and-brick cottages with original clay-pipe drainage and lead supply laterals that chalk-hard water has progressively scaled and stressed over decades.
