The chalk geology beneath Basingstoke and Deane accelerates one particular failure mode: limescale from Affinity Water and South East Water supply at 280 to 310 ppm CaCO3 builds inside pipework under sustained pressure, and the micro-cracking that develops at fittings and compression joints over decades is rarely visible until it has already saturated a floor screed or cavity wall. In the post-war estates of RG21, RG22 and RG23 – where original copper supply runs remain behind plasterboard – this pattern is especially common. In the older properties around Whitchurch and Overton, long sub-floor runs between a remote meter and the property add further scope for concealed loss.

Our leak-detection surveys use thermal imaging to map moisture gradients through floor and wall surfaces, acoustic correlation to pinpoint loss along buried or concealed pipework by comparing pressure-wave signatures between two access points, and tracer gas where the leak path is within a confined or inaccessible void. No ground-breaking or destructive opening-up is carried out until the source location has been confirmed instrumentally.
