Portsmouth Water's chalk-aquifer supply reaches Fareham at 290 to 330 ppm CaCO3 – among the hardest mains water in Hampshire. At those hardness levels, pinhole leaks in copper pipework often remain undetected for extended periods: calcite deposits partially seal the breach while simultaneously accelerating the surrounding pipe wall's deterioration. When a leak does become apparent – a rising water bill, a warm patch on a floor in Titchfield, damp behind a wall in a Stubbington bungalow – the actual point of failure can be metres from where the symptom presents.

Our detection process combines three non-invasive methods. Thermal imaging cameras map surface temperature anomalies across floors and walls to identify moisture migration. Acoustic correlation sensors placed on accessible pipework identify the characteristic pressure-wave signature of a leak, resolving its position to within centimetres without lifting floors. Where pipe routes pass beneath slabs or concrete drives, tracer gas – a safe hydrogen-nitrogen blend – is introduced to the pipe and detected at surface with a sniffer probe.

Every completed survey closes with an insurance-grade written report: leak location, supporting thermal and acoustic data, photographic evidence, and a recommended repair specification.
