Hard water at 280 to 310 ppm CaCO3, supplied across Rushmoor by South East Water and Affinity Water, deposits scale inside supply pipework that both narrows bore and makes pinhole corrosion harder to detect by conventional means. In former garrison housing – particularly the denser terraced rows in GU11 and GU14 – supply pipes often run beneath solid concrete floors originally laid to military-build specification, which means any leak can track considerable distance before surfacing as visible damage.

Our leak-detection surveys use thermal imaging to identify temperature differentials in floor and wall surfaces consistent with a subsurface water path, acoustic correlation to pinpoint the precise leak point within a pressurised supply line, and tracer gas injection where access or background noise makes acoustic methods alone insufficient. Together, these non-invasive techniques typically locate a leak to within a few centimetres without lifting a slab unnecessarily.
