Chalk underlies most of the Dover district, and its influence runs through the drainage picture in two ways: groundwater sits closer to the surface than many owners expect, and tree roots – particularly in the older Deal and Dover town-centre streets – exploit any crack in a clay-jointed run with uncommon speed. High-pressure water jetting clears blockages and scale deposits in a single visit. Where the camera reveals structural damage, no-dig CIPP relining is usually the correct fix: a resin-impregnated liner is cured in place inside the existing pipe, restoring full bore without excavation and without planning complications on Dover's conservation-area streets. Excavation is specified only where collapse or root damage is too severe for relining. Salt-air corrosion on coastal-strip properties in CT15 and CT16 means external soil-stack collars often deteriorate faster than the buried runs, so our survey scope covers above-ground connections as standard.
