Hard chalk-aquifer water at 280 to 330 ppm CaCO3 is, paradoxically, a poor indicator of where a leak lies: mineral deposits build up and seal hairline cracks in older lead and copper supplies, masking slow losses until the accumulation gives way and the rate of escape accelerates sharply. In listed properties concentrated around central Maidstone and Bearsted, that pattern is particularly common – pipework concealed within historic fabric has often been losing water silently for months before any visible sign appears.

Our detection methodology does not rely on visible symptoms. Thermal imaging identifies temperature differentials at floor and wall surfaces caused by water movement in underlying voids.
