Affinity Water's very hard chalk-aquifer supply – 280 to 320 ppm CaCO3 – produces scale that narrows bore and raises pressure differentials across supply pipework throughout KT15, KT16, TW20 and GU25. The practical result is that pinhole leaks in copper and lead supply lines are disproportionately common here, and on the large-footprint properties of Virginia Water and the Wentworth Estate the leak may be running undetected for weeks inside a floor slab or beneath a garden terrace before any surface sign appears.

We deploy three complementary methods: thermal imaging identifies cold or damp anomalies behind finished surfaces without opening walls; acoustic correlation pinpoints the precise leak location by comparing sound signatures from two access points on the pipe; and tracer gas – a safe hydrogen-nitrogen blend – is introduced into the line and detected at ground level for cases where acoustic signals are too weak.
