Southern Water's hard supply at 280 to 310 ppm CaCO3 deposits limescale at joints and fittings across Horsham, and it is at those same points – where the pipe wall has been stressed by scale build-up and by the thermal cycling common in period properties – that pinhole leaks most often begin.
