A high water table means inspection chambers and rear drainage runs often sit close to or below the surrounding ground-water level, so a blockage or a cracked lateral doesn't just back up – it lets ground water in. Across PO1 to PO6, from Southsea's seafront flats to the terraces of Old Town and Cosham, that is what we survey for first.

Shared back-alley drainage

The classic Portsmouth layout is the Victorian terrace served by shared back-alley drainage: a single run taking a whole row, with rear inspection chambers that are frequently buried, paved over or built upon. Tracing responsibility and access on those shared runs is half the job, and our CCTV mapping is built around it.

Hard water and old pipe

Portsmouth Water's very hard supply (290 to 330 ppm CaCO3) scales feed pipes and heating throughout the city, so a leak trace here often starts at a furred-up junction or a pinhole on tired pipework rather than a clean burst. We work these as scheduled project visits, not 24/7 callouts – a 9am to 5pm window, usually within one to two working days. Drainage covers jetting, CCTV and no-dig relining; leak detection uses thermal, acoustic and tracer-gas location with an insurance-grade report.
